Gustave Flaubert & Louise Colet

Gustave Flaubert first met Louise Colet in 1846 while she posed in the studio of sculptor James Pradier on the Quai Voltaire.

A day after meeting, Flaubert and Colet took a long carriage ride in the Bois de Boulogne followed by dinner at her apartment where he spent the night.
